The pedestrian, who was later identified as Jonathan Edgar West, was struck by Velez’s vehicle. West suffered injuries as a result of the crash. The Durham County EMS arrived and transported West to Duke University Hospital. There is no word on his condition or the nature of his injuries at this time. Velez was not injured in the accident.

Troopers believe that Scott’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with the teenage pedestrian.

Following an investigation, Scott was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle for her role in the crash. No further details are available at this time.
