Statesville, NC (November 12, 2020) – Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a fatal crash in Statesville on Thursday. The collision was reported around 5:45 a.m. on Wilkesboro Highway near Pisgah Church Road.
According to reports, the crash involved a 2018 Jeep Wrangler and 1997 Ford Ranger. Troopers report that the Ford was traveling southbound when it hydroplaned and crossed over the centerline, striking the Ranger head-on. The driver of the Ford, 23-year-old Dylan Pool, and a passenger, 23-year-old Jamie Batcher, were killed in the collision. The Jeep driver, 33-year-old Ryan Bourgeois, was taken to Iredell Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Bourgeois was later taken to Wake Forest Baptist Health for additional treatment.
Neither Poole nor Batcher were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. Investigators believe that speed played a role in the crash.

We wish to extend our condolences to the families of the two victims in this tragic crash in Statesville. We hope that the injured driver makes a full and complete recovery from their injuries.
North Carolina Car Accidents
Losing a loved one to a North Carolina car accident is a devastating and heartbreaking event for family members. Families are suddenly and unexpectedly forced to move forward following a fatal crash and are likely to feel overwhelmed along with a tremendous amount of grief and sadness. While we often take our safety on the roadways for granted, a serious or fatal crash can affect anyone and can happen at any time. In 2018, there were 1,472 traffic fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in North Carolina. There were also approximately 80,000 people injured.
A North Carolina car accident can certainly change your life for the worse in a matter of seconds. While the pain from the crash can linger for many weeks, months, or even years, your future does not have to be hopeless. If the crash was caused by a negligent driver, you could be entitled to recover financial compensation for pain and suffering, lost wages, medical bills, and more. Although there is no amount of money that can replace a family member or undo the trauma of the accident itself, your recovery is an important financial bridge to the next steps in your life. Ensuring that you receive an adequate settlement is the first step in the process of obtaining closure following the accident.
